Mercedes-Benz recently confirmed plans to possibly offer a factory-assembled G-Class convertible, but Brabus has already beaten Stuttgart to the finish line. The Brabus XL 800 Cabrio takes the current Mercedes-AMG G63 from the W465 generation and transforms it into a full-fledged open-top machine. The tuner has designed an all-new electrically operated soft top, containing more than 500 specially crafted components, all integrated with factory precision. With the press of a switch, mounted on the roof, the top folds in about 20 seconds, turning the iconic G-Wagen into a first-class cruiser.

Of course, this would not be a creation of Brabus without a serious injection of power. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, produced by AMG, is tuned to produce 788 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque - massive improvements over the already powerful G63. Brabus claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. And despite its wild convertible configuration, the XL 800 is not built solely for the boulevard. Brabus equips it with portal axles, which increase the ground clearance to an impressive 18.9 inches, along with massive all-terrain tires 325/55R22, making it one of the most off-road convertibles ever created.

The interior is just as extravagant. Brabus fills the cabin with sumptuous red leather upholstery, contrasting with glossy carbon fiber trim, creating a dramatic combination with the SUV’s pale-brown exterior – also bolstered with generous carbon fiber accents. The traditional rear-mounted spare tire has disappeared, sacrificed for stylistic and engineering changes, but the Cabrio’s impressive presence and character more than compensate for its absence.

The Brabus XL 800 Cabrio is not just a modified G-Wagen – it is an impressive vehicle, combining open-top exclusivity, extreme performance, and the unmistakable Brabus attitude.
